Kid-friendly dinners don’t have to be boring! This week’s menu will be sure to make everyone happy, adults and kids alike.
When we talk about kid-friendly meals, people often think of chicken nuggets and mac and cheese. I can see why! What kid doesn’t love those?? But that can get old after a while, especially for grownups.
There are so many other kid-friendly options for dinner that will make both kids and adults happy. This week, we’re trying out a new chili recipe and meatloaf using turkey instead of beef, as well as an easy taco pasta. Twists on kid favorites that give a little variety help me stay out of the chicken nugget rut.
I always include some more ‘grownup food’ in my meal plan too, while still keeping it mild and familiar enough for little ones. Dinners like this week’s Parmesan pork chops and asparagus and gluten free orange chicken keep our meal plans interesting enough for my husband and me so we don’t feel like we eat nothing but kid food. These kinds of dinners are also not too spicy or out of the ordinary for our kids.
Another important aspect of our weekly meal plan is the level of difficulty and time required to make dinner. Most week nights, I need something quick and easy and hard to mess up. This isn’t the time to try a new recipe for lobster risotto or to serve roast chicken with duchess potatoes. I love to try new foods and recipes, but I also love my sanity!
